| Helen May was one of the founder members of Swansea Nomads Ski Club in the early 1990's and worked tirelessly to build the Club for the benefit of the children and parents of skiers throughout Wales. Helen worked hard as the convenor for the Celtic Cup Series for many years and only a few days before her untimely death in 2001 was determined to carry out her work for that year's series of events. The trophy, named in her honour is the most prestigious and coveted award on the ski racing calendar. Each year, the presentation is very emotional for all those who knew Helen. The award is received with pride and honour by all those skilled and lucky enough to have taken it home. Most years we have been fortunate that Helen's son, Jon May (ex Welsh Ski Squad Member), comes along to present the award and help choose a worthy recipient for this most prestigious trophy. |
